Position Details
- Title: Public Relations Intern
- Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week, varies
- Department/Branch: Communications at the Library Service Center
- Schedule: Can be flexible, but may include day, evening, or weekend hours
- Compensation: Unpaid

A successful candidate will…
- Be a student enrolled in college/university curriculum, preferably in a Communications, Public Relations, Mass marketing program.
- Hold a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of the internship.
- Have reliable transportation.
- Have some weekend and evening availability.
- Have some customer service experience.
- Have basic computer and internet skills including MS 365, Teams, Airtable, Sharepoint.
- Have a desire and enthusiasm to learn.
- Multilingual a plus
What does the job look like?
- Writing copy – press releases, monthly media releases, Latina community notifications, etc.
- Attend community meetings as a library representative – share library program information with community leaders.
- Conduct media interviews during special event media days.
- Seek out, schedule, confirm, and host media appearances.
- Support work on the evolving Library magazine.
- Developing/executing a mass communications plan/campaign.
- Provide a variety of clerical and/or technical tasks in support of assigned functions, including data entry, filing, event summary/analysis, etc.
